"Are you pregnant or just getting fat?"

I started thinking that it would be a good idea for me to keep a blog, or journal for myself and anyone interested in my experiences as becoming and preparing for motherhood. On this blog you may laugh, you may cry, you may get a little grossed out and you may even laugh so hard you cry or laugh so hard you pee your pants. (this has happened to me quite a few times now) I hope you all can enjoy reading my posts as much as I have enjoyed the last 6 months of my life!

The Nursery

Everyone keeps asking me "do you have the baby room done yet?" "What are you doing the baby room in?" Well, it's not complete yet, but I wanted to share my ideas and what the nursery will consist of when it is complete! Which will be no later than March 24. (That's the cutoff date I gave Zack to get it done.) And as soon as it is, I will post pictures. But until then I will give you the details...

Gracelyn's room was our storage room. You know the room you use to store all your junk that you will probably never use or look at again but just don't want to throw away. Well, now all of that stuff is in our other bedroom, which was used as our "office" but now we can't even find our way to the desk. But, it's okay because now the room is ready to start on! Last Saturday, after Zack cleaned the room out, he sanded the walls and taped it off to get ready to paint. Our plan on Saturday was to go to Lowe's when I got off work to get the rest of the stuff but that plan backfired (long story but basically we had to take Zack's work truck back to Winchester and get my car from the shop but then Zack realized his work keys to get into work and get the keys to the car were left in the last tractor he worked on which was pretty far away.) But Anyways, oh yes...the nursery....

My whole house is decorated with primitive/country decor so I wanted to keep Gracelyn's room the same, color and all. So no, I didn't do the traditional pink. The color I have picked out is a light brown mustard color. Anyone who knows primitive colors should know what I am talking about. Underneath the paint will be white trim and the rest of the wall will be white wainscoting. Very country looking and the dark brown furniture I want to get will really pull the room together.

I have a lot of decorating ideas and I've had a few things bought for me for decorations (the pictures once finished will show it off) But, the most sentimental thing in the room will be her baby blanket. I picked out fabric for the crib quilt and Zack sewed it together for her. It's somewhat of a patch quilt with blues and reds and yellows in it. I know it meant a lot to him to have done that and I know it's a blanket that she will cherish forever because her daddy made it for her. I absolutely love it. I love it so much I even use it when I'm laying on the couch taking a nap.

So, that's what I have so far. Try to envision what it will look like and as soon as it's complete I promise to post pictures! It's going to me beautiful!

  1. Oo, so excited you're going against the grain and not using pink! Can't wait to see pictures of the final product. And give Zack congrats on making the baby blanket. That's so adorable and yes, Gracelyn will cherish that FOREVER.
